Two nights ago, on a whim, I asked the kids if they were interested in going back to BMX. The one son that had done it previously said sure. My other boy who was too afraid to ride the track asked if he could go too. I said of course, thinking that he just wanted to go and watch. He surprised me by saying that he wanted to "show them how it was done". We went there last night and on the starting hill (the one they ride down to build speed), he was slightly intimidated, but went down slowly just the same. When he got to the finish, he was all smiles. "Can I do it again?", was the question of the night. Without exaggeration, he rode it at least 12 times. My other son who had rode previously this year, gave up after 4 laps, wanting to run and play with his friends there instead. I couldn't believe how well he did and how many times he rode. Of course it didn't hurt that on his second lap, the CUTEST little 8 year old girl met up with him and rode with him the entire time, talking to him and helping him. She was adorable, and followed him around all night. That's my boy!!! I think we will definitely be back next week. I may be grooming a new world champion, but it may be too soon to know for sure.
We leave for camping tomorrow. We are all excited. We'll pack the trailer and car tonight and leave about 1:00pm tomorrow. hopefully the weather will be good.

I had a long comment I wrote for the "Camping" entry that somehow ended up in Never Never Land . . . was too wasted (as in tired) to retype it . . .
Awesome about the BMX track! Next time you guys come all the way up here I'll take the three of you to one of the local trails that has a DH/FR course. Before you freak and say "what the heck are you thinking?!?!?" it's a very generic course - it can be as hard as you want or as easy. The last time I was out at that trail La was with me and we watched a few groups go down it. There were the way skilled hucksters to were playing "Superman" of course. But there were also a few boys and a girl or two the boys' age having a great time. They rode the same course just didn't catch (as much) air as the others. I think the boys would enjoy.
Camping . . . I can't remember everything I wrote or everything your post said but yeah, we enjoy camping as a family, though I have to say I think we enjoy it more when you guys are there (can't speak as to if it's just Lori and I - we've never done that yet). Definitely bring some games. I wish that we had left that Hungry Fish game with you guys - the boys seem to like playing that camping (even if it's only for 5 minute intervals). Football/baseball good idea though consider tossing a frisbee or soccer ball in the car as well. Neither take up a whole lot of space and it's something "Mom" can play as well.
Fire . . . don't forget to pack the WD40. As I recall that was a pretty big hit making fireballs during Hanna Park, though none that even came close to comparing to the Great Mushroom Fireball of '06 (surely they remember that one, right?)
Enjoy the trip - can't wait to hear how it went. Really wish we could've joined you . . .
